Meet the Puppets
Age 5 - 7 (approx)
Naughty Nora is a small mischievous puppy who causes lots of problems. Discovery Dog is Naughty Nora’s uncle. He tries to sort out the problems that she causes, but he needs help from the children to do this. Naughty Nora is a small puppet, suitable for children’s hands. Discovery Dog is a larger puppet designed for teachers to use. The puppets are based on the Discovery Dog stories on the CDs.
The Discovery Dog stories are available on two CDs linked to key ideas within the curriculum. Each story ends with Discovery Dog’s dilemma. The problem leads to an investigation. Additional material on the CD supports young children’s planning of investigations.
Age 7 - 9 (approx)
Ricky (dark skinned male puppet), Ruby (blonde haired white skinned female puppet) and Jed (sandy haired white skinned male puppet) are a group of young friends who have a series of adventures together which lead to problems that need to be solved. Nana is a lively older, grey haired white skinned puppet with a sense of adventure. Ricky and Nana take the lead in most of the stories.
They all appear in the Spellbound Science 1 stories that are in a CD and story book linked to the key ideas in the curriculum. Each story ends with a dilemma. All the characters have different ideas. They ask the children to help them. The problems lead to investigations and research. Additional material on the CD supports their planning and their developing understanding of science.
Age 9 - 11 (approx)
Benny (white skinned male, blonde haired puppet), Jasmin (dark skinned female, black, curly haired puppet) and Millie (white skinned female, ginger haired puppet) are a group of young friends who have a series of adventures together which lead to problems that need to be solved. Grandad (grey haired, older white skinned puppet) is a gentle older, grey haired character who likes to solve problems. Benny and Jasmin take the lead in most of the stories.
